About IGRE

The Institute for Geospatial Research and Education (IGRE) is EMU's home for geographic information technology on campus. Our primary Mission is to provide experiential learning opportunities to students at EMU. This learning takes place in a "Project-Based" environment where problems are researched and practical applications are developed. Our students tackle today's environmental issues using spatial thinking skills, remote sensed data and software tools such as ArcGIS, ERDAS, ENVI and Feature Analyst. If you're a spatial thinker, and believe all knowledge is interconnected in space, then IGRE should be on your map.

Dr. Yichun XieOffice of Research Development: EMU's Office of Research Development (ORD) serves and supports faculty, staff and institutes like IGRE engaged in grant sponsored activities that promote basic and applied research, public service, teaching, learning, scholarship, and artistic expression.
